“ Authentic Thai style Michelin restaurant in Penang. The White Tomyum Soup and Pork Knuckle are superb, expecially the Pork Knuckle, crispy on the skin, soft fat meat in the inner side. This restaurant is well known to both tourist and locals, my advise is make appointment before you visit the restaurant, can be full house during weekday! ”
“ Tried Thara Thai (under the same owner as Niang) for a change, and it didn’t disappoint! They currently offer a 15% discount on bills from Monday to Wednesday — a great bonus. Seafood was fresh (not frozen), and the flavours were authentically Thai, even though the staff aren’t Thai. The cha-om omelette had just the right amount of cha-om to bring out that unique, aromatic flavour we were hoping for. The white tom yam was delicious and served with a small flame to keep the soup hot — a thoughtful touch. We also tried the kaprow mu sap (minced pork with basil), which was tasty, though not spicy. The deep-fried garlic pork was another highlight — crispy but not overly coated in flour. The only letdowns were the pork knuckle, which was a bit too dry for our liking, and the Thai dessert — the coating on the water chestnuts was too thick and not to our taste. Parking can be tricky (MBPP paid street parking), so do plan ahead. We went on a Monday night and it was nearly full — highly recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment. ”
“ First of all, the parking around this area is a pain, as the shop situated by the roadside. The restaurant itself has a cozy ambiance and well decorated. Moving on to the food, Thai Otak Seafood and Melinjo leaves are the show stealer- the dishes had an amazing and flavourful taste. The clam and green tomyam taste can be improved but it was tasty as well. Highly recommended to try the green thai tea and red ruby to conclude the feast! ”
“ Thai otak were good as the seafoods served were fresh and tasty but would be much better if more gravy can be provided. Sour line pork were okay but a bit hard and probably would be ideal with pork belly meat instead. Stir fried clams were satisfactory and best of bunch but the Thai cuisine here were not spicy enough for my liking. Complimentary snacks were good, fresh and tasty though. This place does not serve alcohol but you can do byo without corkage which is a big plus for the restaurant. I will be back to try the food again as I do think they deserved the second chance. ”
